Built‑in lotto number generator in the MELM program
We’re often asked whether the MELM lottery program includes a good built‑in Lotto number generator.
Absolutely! Operation is described in detail in the manual section: Lotto number generator in the MELM program for creating lottery wheels and evaluating lotto results.
Short version — just two steps:
1) Click on the lotto number 6 (or any other desired count of numbers to generate, from 2 up to all 49 are possible)
2) Press the ‘R’ key or click the Random button until your desired combination appears.
This lotto generator is high quality and does not rely on the Windows standard rand(); it uses the Mersenne Twister pseudorandom number generator developed in 1997 by Makoto Matsumoto and Takuji Nishimura.
New lotto number generator on the homepage
Since 2017 there has been a new lotto number generator on our homepage, which calculates lotto numbers based on the combination’s ordinal number
(enter the ordinal number of the combination — i.e., a number between 1 and 139,838,160, which is the index of the last possible 6aus49 combination — and the desired combination is shown immediately on the ticket).
For example, ordinal 99,999,999 corresponds to the combination 2, 5, 15, 33, 44, 47 with Superzahl 7. It works instantly after input.
A brief recap on the ordinal number:
The first German 6aus49 combination is 1‑2‑3‑4‑5‑6; the next, with ordinal two, is 1‑2‑3‑4‑5‑7, and so on. For example, ordinal 10,000,000 corresponds to 9‑19‑32‑34‑35‑45.
The last combination 44‑45‑46‑47‑48‑49 has ordinal 13,983,816 when the Superzahl is 0.
Note: With Superzahl 0 you work with the usual range of 1 to 13,983,816 combinations.
Interestingly, some pattern picks also have round ordinals, e.g. the combination at ordinal 15,000,000. Can you find other interesting pairs?
A special feature is the inverse function (given selected numbers and Superzahl, the ordinal number is computed).
To our knowledge this is unique and not offered elsewhere. You can use birthdays, wedding dates, children’s birthdays, or any personal number (e.g., tax ID).
In addition, this generator includes three mini‑systems. With the Zufall*12 button you can generate a quick pick with 12 randomly selected numbers. You can edit both these numbers and the Superzahl as you wish (e.g., select 11 or 10 desired numbers on the ticket — there is a wheel for those counts as well).
Eurojackpot generator
NEW: A similar generator now exists for Eurojackpot combination ordinals —
follow this link to the very first Eurojackpot combination.
As with the lotto generator above, you can select a Eurojackpot combination by its ordinal.
Since the latest Eurojackpot rules change (increasing the star numbers to 12),
there are a total of 139,838,160 Eurojackpot combinations (the same as in 6aus49).
