Cut-off times at retail outlets

The Lotto 6aus49 draws of the German Lotto and Totoblock take place on Wednesday at 18:25 and on Saturday at 19:25. Typically, this results in retail cut‑off times on Wednesdays around 17:30–18:00 and on Saturdays around 18:30–19:00. These times vary between federal states because the state lottery administrations set the cut‑off times largely independently. For the online sales point of Lotto Hesse, the following cut‑off times apply — for Wednesday Lotto: 18:00 and for Saturday Lotto: 19:00.

Prize collection and payout in Hesse

Until recently, lottery players in Hesse had to assert their prize claims within 13 weeks of the draw date (or from the date of last participation for multi‑week tickets) by presenting a valid receipt; otherwise, the prize expired. This period had been uniform for all German state lottery companies. Changes in legislation led to the most recent change in the terms on 27.07.2016, effective for draws from Wednesday, 03.08.2016. Now §VI states: “Statutory limitation rules apply to the assertion and limitation of claims.” As a rule, players now have up to 3 years (possibly until the end of the respective calendar year) to assert their claims — a significant improvement over the previous 13‑week period. In Hesse retail outlets, only prizes up to €5,000 are paid out. For higher amounts (practical tip — even for a few hundred euros, a small neighborhood shop may not have enough cash on hand; it’s advisable to ask in advance), a written prize claim must be submitted (available at every lottery outlet). Alternatively, you can visit the headquarters of the state lottery company in person:

Lotterie‑Treuhandgesellschaft mbH Hessen
Rosenstraße 5–9
65189 Wiesbaden

Tel: +49 611 3612-0
Fax: +49 611 3612-377

Payout can also be made by standard bank transfer. It’s therefore much more convenient to submit your ticket online. Your receipt cannot be lost and the prize is automatically transferred to your bank account.

The Lotto‑Card serves player identification and also offers additional services such as saving up to 10 personal tickets, individual written prize notifications for larger wins, and the automatic transfer of smaller prizes up to €8,000 if you have not collected them within five weeks at a LOTTO shop in Hesse.

The Lotto Hesse special draw – SuperDING plus 2018

As in previous years, Lotto Hesse also offered the Lotto‑SuperDING plus special draw for the Saturday, 23.12.2018 draw. It involved 4× full system 6 out of 8 (28 lines each) at a total price of €140.00 (including processing fee). Since Lotto‑SuperDING plus consists of 112 individual tips, you have 112 chances to win: these 112 tips participate in the regular draw “Lotto on Saturday, 23.12.2018”. The special appeal of Lotto‑SuperDING plus is the special draw itself. In addition to the regular draw, there is a guaranteed prize of €70.00, regardless of the winning numbers. Of course, this has a price: the regular price for 4 full systems 8 (all combinations 6 out of 8) on one online ticket at Lotto Hesse is “only” €112.20. Due to the properties of full system 8 and the guaranteed €70 prize, you can already achieve a small win with just the correct Superzahl and two correct system numbers in one of the four systems (example calculation in the original German text). Internet participants receive their winnings automatically by bank transfer; all other winners must claim from 27 December (around noon) at a retail outlet or directly at the company headquarters in Wiesbaden. You can play the Lotto Hesse SuperDING plus via this link to lotto.de (after registration at lotto.de you will be forwarded to the Lotto Hesse page; select the “Lotto SuperDING Plus” special draw there or predate the ticket to 23.12.2018).
Below are answers to common questions about this special draw:
From when can I play Lotto SuperDING Plus 2018 from Lotto Hesse?
Participation is possible from around 12.12.2018. The print run is limited — it pays to be quick!
Can I play the add‑on lotteries Spiel77 and/or Super6?
No. Participation in these add‑on lotteries is excluded for Lotto SuperDING Plus.
Can I pay less than €140?
No — €140 is the price for the systems played. Note that the payable price can be slightly higher due to applicable processing fees.
Is Lotto‑SuperDING only available in Hesse?
No, other state lottery companies offer similar lotteries with the same or similar name and a similar guaranteed‑prize principle. For example, Lotto‑SuperDING from Lotto NRW.

Glücksspirale annual ticket

Lotto Hesse has long offered the annuity lottery Glücksspirale as an “annual ticket”. Not only are the two significantly longer terms of 6 or 12 months possible (the 10‑week term is still not offered), but also two cheaper variants are available: a “half ticket” (stake €2.50 with a correspondingly reduced maximum monthly annuity of only €3,750) and a “one‑fifth ticket” (stake €1 and max. €1,500 annuity). The processing fee for an annual ticket is uniformly €0.20 online (regardless of price and duration). It is also worth noting that Glücksspirale offers better odds compared to the add‑on lotteries Spiel77 and Super6.
Below are answers to common questions about the annual ticket:
Can I play the add‑on lotteries Spiel77 and/or Super6?
Yes, also as an annual ticket. No additional processing fee is charged by Lotto HE for this.
Can I play the cheaper tickets (half ticket or one‑fifth ticket) with a short term?
Yes! This answer varies between state lottery companies.
Why is there “twice the chance of the top prize” each week?
Glücksspirale results are announced on Saturdays shortly before the Tagesschau at around 19:57 on ARD. There is only one draw per week. However, since two 7‑digit winning numbers are drawn in the top prize class (the monthly annuity), you effectively have two chances.
Is the Glücksspirale annual ticket only available in Hesse?
No, many other state lottery companies have long offered Glücksspirale as annual tickets. Please use the top menu to navigate to the lottery company of your federal state of residence for more details.
